All of us here at Doherty's is honored to partner for another year with The Christmas Store and United Church's annual tradition of helping those in need. We're asking our guests and friends to donate new toys from birth to age 14 for families in Southern Wake County. The Christmas Store asks that the toys be new, unwrapped, and brought to the restaurant by Sunday, December 8th.
How It Works
There are many families who do not have adequate resources to purchase gifts for their children at Christmas time. They find themselves struggling just to make ends meet for the necessities of life. Additionally, there are many other people in this area who have abundant resources. They find themselves wanting to help their neighbors, but do not know what the need is or how to help. The purpose of The Christmas Store is to bring those two groups together.
Families are referred to The Christmas Store by Western Wake Crisis Ministry, Dorcas Ministries, the Fuquay-Varina Emergency Food Pantry and the Holly Springs Food Cupboard. Throughout the year, these organizations work with people who are in crisis situations resulting from a lack of resources. They refer clients with children 14 years of age or younger to register for the Christmas Store. School counselors from local schools also refer families whom they know to be in need during the holiday season to register for The Christmas Store.
Come by either one of our locations in Apex or Cary now through Sunday, December 4th to pick a card (or as many as you'd like) from the tree letting you know a few details about the child you've chosen and bring your new, unwrapped donations back to the pub by the end of Sunday, December 8th.
All donations will then be brought to the United Church where holiday cheer can be found and spread all across the community!
